Next Cookin’ With Janette, in honor of American Thanksgiving, I’m making one of my favourite lazy luxury dishes — a creamy, dreamy One-Pot Mac & Cheese that’s fast, affordable, and ridiculously satisfying. No straining. No fuss. Just toss everything into one pot and let the magic happen. ✨ Perfect for: • Busy nights • Comfort cravings • Women who want affordable luxury they can make in minutes • Anyone who loves rich, velvety mac & cheese Holidays Side or Main Dish INGREDIENTS: • Macaroni • Milk • Water or broth • Cheddar + mozzarella • Butter • Spices (mustard powder, garlic, pepper, salt) WHAT YOU’LL LEARN: ✔️ How to get ultra-creamy cheese sauce without making a roux ✔️ How to cook pasta and sauce in the same pot ✔️ My secret spice combo for the perfect flavour ✔️ Add-in ideas for a gourmet twist First, spray your baking dish with PAM and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil, making sure the bottom is coated. Next, measure out 1 cup of uncooked elbow macaroni and set it aside — we’ll add it in a minute. Now, into the baking dish, add ½ stick of butter, cut into pads and scattered around the bottom so it melts evenly. Pour in 2 cups of milk or cream of your choice, and then 2 cups of vegetable or chicken broth. Make sure the pasta will be fully covered in liquid once you add it. Add ½ cup of boiling water to help everything heat up and cook faster. Now stir in: • 3 heaping tablespoons of sour cream or yogurt • 3 tablespoons of cream cheese • 1 cup total of shredded cheddar, mozzarella, and Gruyère • ½ teaspoon each of salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley flakes Give everything a light mix. Now add your 1 cup of uncooked elbow macaroni right into the dish, making sure the pasta is submerged in the liquid. Sprinkle ¼ cup of seasoned bread crumbs over the top for that beautiful crunch. Then add a few more butter pads on top, along with a little extra cheese for that gorgeous golden finish. Cover the baking dish tightly. Place it into a preheated 350° oven and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on your oven. When it’s done, remove the cover and broil for 3 to 5 minutes until the top is bubbly, melted, and beautifully crunchy. Check with a fork — if it’s creamy inside and crisp on top, you’re good to go. And that’s it — my One-Pot Mac & Cheese. Easy, affordable luxury you can enjoy any night of the week.
