Lately when I speak to potential business partners and referral sources who DM me on Facebook and LinkedIn to connect and start a business relationship it’s always business first with no social etiquette or personal attachment. They seem to forget their reason for connecting and that fundamentally, people who run these businesses are PEOPLE. Making the connection just to get straight to the pitch shows that you don’t care about the person who will potentially send you business or use your services or their time. So, what are the things we can do to prevent this type of conversation and actually forge real relationships based on reciprocity and trust?
